Dream Riders of Kentucky, Inc. operates as a not-for profit 501(c)(3) organization.
Through the generosity of Don and Bonnie Bittel, Dream Riders enjoys the use of the Bittel Equestrian Center – a large horse farm equipped with spacious and well maintained indoor and outdoor arenas, barns, a tack room, kitchen, office and meeting areas, kitchen and storage areas.
Volunteers of all ages donate over 3500 hours of time each year providing both direct and non-direct horse care, conducting rides and performing numerous support activities.
As with all things of value, however, our program does incur expense. Our largest expense is for the care and feeding for each of our equine friends – approximately $2000 per year, per horse.
Funding to support our programs provided through a combination of corporate and individual contributions, grants, program fees, an annual fundraising campaign and special events including our annual Fall Jamboree.
Although, Dream Riders works diligently to keep its cost to a minimum, the cost to provide a twelve (12) week ride experience is approximately $1,000 per rider. Families are asked to contribute $125 and Dream Riders “scholarships” the balance from its annual revenue. No child is denied the opportunity to participate based on income, and in cases of financial need, parents and guardians may satisfy the $125 fee through volunteer service.
