Equine activities for those with physical, behavioral, or developmental challenges
Dream Riders of Kentucky has been providing equine-assisted activities and services to individuals with physical, emotional, and behavioral disabilities since 2003.
Riders range in age from the very young to the elderly, and benefit from being around the horses, riding the horses, and caring for the horses. The therapeutic benefits of equine assisted therapy span from increased core muscle strength, balance, and coordination, to improved self-esteem, trust, empowerment, and patience. Equine assisted therapy is used not only with the traditionally special needs population, but with groups such as Veterans, PSTD patients, and victims of domestic abuse.
