This will be a 3-day, 1 ½ hour combination activity/ride package. Participants rotate through each 30-minute activity listed below.
- Ground Lesson Activity – On the first day, the group will tour the barn, review rules and safety, learn how to groom, learn about the different jobs a horse has, including acting as a service animal here at Dream Riders. Participants will learn how to take care of a horse, including nutrition and health and learn about horse speak.
- Riding Lesson Activity – On the second day, the group will learn parts of the horse and saddle they will be riding in, then learn basic riding skills as they take their horse through an obstacle or go out on a trail ride. (ALL RIDERS MUST MEET COGNITIVE, PHYSICAL ABILITY, AND WEIGHT LIMIT REQUIREMENTS)
- Art & Craft Activity and Service Project Activity – On the third day, the group will make a take-home horse related craft and choose a service project to learn about volunteering in the community by helping to clean pastures and perform general care and clean up.
Classes are held at Dream Riders of KY and are limited to 12 participants.
